Peter Takis - Your Vision

Big Sean recently inspired me to write a few articles about personal growth. I haven't released any yet but decided to turn this one into a short video. My only goal with this is to inspire young people that they can literally do anything if they believe that they can. Sounds whatever but little videos like this mean the world to me.

If you enjoyed this please share it with someone close to you. Thanks! :)  - Peter Takis

Kay - Rewind The Track

Emotional. Crazy. Soulful. Throwback. Electric. Ask emerging superstar KAY to list five adjectives that best sum up her sound, and she immediately ticks off those disparate yet captivating words. Which is coincidental because while "emotional, crazy, soulful, throwback" and "electric" do indeed conjure KAY's giddy, hiphop-goosed pop, they also serve as handy sub-headlines for a career trajectory that's zoomed from pastoral Nova Scotia to Los Angeles via London and Vancouver in just a few years, making believers out of tastemakers like DJ Tiesto and OneRepublic songwriter/producer Ryan Tedder along the way. And so the story of KAY unfolds.

Peter Jackson Interview w/ Jessica Streetz

Jessica Streetz had the chance to interview Canada's own, Peter Jackson.
"As Canadians continue to push the idea that “Hip Hop isn’t dead...It lives in the North” most people expect to discover talent in some of the big cities like Toronto, Vancouver and even the east coast town of St. John’s. But when talking about pounding beats and lyrical rhymes, very few would think of Oshawa, Ontario. It may seem an unlikely place to find Canada’s next hip-hop star, but when you look at the cultural make-up of the city of Oshawa itself, it bears a striking resemblance to an American city that has birthed a handful of top emcees." - Myspace

Jessica, Jeremy and Chris all went down the the legislative building April 20th 2010 for the 420 Celebration. It was a beautiful sunny day and a sea of people welcomed us as we got there. As we walked around taking many pictures and videos we saw a banana and pot costume as well as a lizard!! There was a band of hippie drummers keeping a satisfying beat to dance to. If anyone needed some munchies then they were in luck because their were many food vendors up and down the sidewalks. There were also mech. tables where you could buy all your 420 memorabilia. Just as 4:20pm hit, a loud cheer could be heard and a cloud of smoke puffed up into the air, over the crowd.

Underground Pop
- Josh Martinez ft. Moka Only

This video features Josh Matinez, a deep-rooted, Indie, Canadian rapper and Moka Only from Swollen Members.

Enjoy the blatant references to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.  In an unusually ugly turn of events, Martinez chose his birthday to shave his head in the manner of a balding 40 year old man, to offer a more method portrayal of hero Hunter S. Thompson.

Main Street - J-Style [1988]

This is video is described as Winnipeg’s first hip hop music video. And it very well could be. Made in 1988, this video by J-Style, a local rapper features many eye pleasing angles of Winnipeg’s oldschool skyline.  Bringing us back to the way it was when hip hop was so young and fresh.
The song has an authentic rap, funk beat with quite a solid production from the early stages of the hip hop industry. The song is about issues that Aboriginal people faced on one of Winnipeg’s most notoriously grimy streets, Main Street. Funny thing is, some people still face the same issues in 2009 on this very same street! We were pleased to see pretty much every classic video effect utilized in this clip showing Winnipeg in a pretty, flashy way.

Growing up witnessing and experiencing many of the hardships, trials, and tribulations that effect a large population of Native Peoples, Stylez is determined to stay close to his roots.
