
WHO IS STREETZ FM 104-7?
In 2008, NCI-FM put in a successful application into the CRTC to receive one of the last radio licenses for the city of Winnipeg. They received the approval to launch a Hip Hop and urban music station targeting Aboriginal youth and all youth who love Hip Hop music. This station is STREETZ 104-7.
WHO ARE STREETZ 104-7 LISTENERS?
Aboriginal youth are the fastest growing demographic in Winnipeg. Winnipeg’s Aboriginal population is estimated to be near 90,000 and growing quickly. According to the 2006 Census, the median age for the Aboriginal community is 27 years old compared to 40 years old in the rest of the population. This is the youngest and fastest growing segment of the city and it is not be served directly by any media.
STREETZ 104-7 is reaching out to all youth in Winnipeg and listeners of any age who love Hip Hop music and a younger, fresher urban sound. We are grabbing the ears of a large segment of the listening public that is being ignored and underserved in this market.
